Family Law

Family law involves a variety of legal matters.  These areas include divorce, separation, as well as parental rights and parental responsibilities.  With the exception of adoption, which can be one of the most happy and exciting times in a person’s life, most of these matters are among the most unpleasant and emotionally charged events a person will encounter. Our Maine family law attorneys at Gross, Minsky & Mogul, P.A., follow an approach which seeks, whenever possible, to resolve these matters amicably.  It is also important to our attorneys that matters are resolved in the best interest of the children involved. Mediation may also be an efficient, and less traumatic process for resolution of family disputes.

Collaborative Divorce

Collaborative divorce is a new way to “restructure a family”.  Collaborative divorce does not involve the courts until an agreement on all issues has been reached. Beginning with a voluntary exchange of information, and a team approach, group meetings consist of goal-setting, brainstorming and problem solving.

The process is intended to:

  • Reduce the bitterness of divorce
  • Give the parties control of the outcome
  • Allow for a “divorce with dignity”

There are only a handful of attorneys in the greater Bangor area that are trained in collaborative divorce.  Here at Gross, Minsky & Mogul, P.A., we are honored to have this option available to our clients and our Maine community.
